Bio

Ainsworth Clarke is an Associate Professor of African American Studies and English, and teaches courses on African American literary modernism, nineteenth and twentieth century African American intellectual history, race and the production of disciplinary knowledge, and contemporary theories of cosmopolitanism. He is currently completing, Thinking the Negro: W.E.B. Du Bois Fugitive Writing and the Challenge of Disciplinarity, a study of how the early sociological work of W.E.B. Du Bois inaugurates the problematic of disciplinary knowledge at the center of current debates in African American literary and cultural studies.
