Professor Emerita Publishes New Book
Natalie Crohn Schmitt (Professor Emerita of English and Theatre) has just published Performing Commedia dell' Arte, 1570-1630 (Routledge 2020). According to the publisher, the book discusses actor improvisation; voice, dialect, and style; and masks, among other topics.
Professor Schmitt was co-founder and founding director of the Looking Glass Theatre, Providence, Rhode Island. Her awards include two National Endowment for the Arts Senior Fellowships, an Illinois Humanities Institute Fellowship, a Stanford Humanities Associate Fellowship, and first place Illinois Humanities Council Literary Award.
