English Grads Receive Grad College Awards

Kate Sjostrom, Russ Mayo, and Bob Ryan win competitive awards for research and writing

Recent PhD and current English Education lecturer Kate Sjostrom has won the Graduate College's Annual Outstanding Thesis and Dissertation Award for 2018 for The Thread that Makes the Cloth: Narrative as the Fabric of Our Teaching Selves. The award carries a $1000 prize. Professor David Schaafsma was the director of the dissertation.

Bob Ryan's research proposal "Worlds of Form: History, Literature, Empire" & Russ Mayo's "Ivan Illich and the Rhetoric of Deschooling" were both awarded the Provost's Graduate Research Award, a $5000 prize paid out over five months to support inter- and multidisciplinary research.
