Edward M Bury (MA, 2020) Receives 2022 Janice Watkins Award
Congratulations to Edward M. Bury, Coordinator of Public Information at the Urban Transportation Center, for receiving the 2022 Janice Watkins Award for Distinguished Civil Service during a luncheon November 1 at the UIC Student Center West. Edward, who earned his MA in English 2020 through the Program for Writers, was one of four UIC civil service employees named to the Watkins Award this year. UTC Director Dr. P.S. Sriraj, who was not able to attend the luncheon, nominated Edward for the award. Dr. Sriraj offered this thought: “Ed has been a tremendous asset to UTC, CUPPA, and to UIC over the last nine years. He embodies the traits that every individual at UIC ought to have. Those are: enthusiasm, sincerity, and effort. I am proud of the fact that he has been awarded the prestigious Janice Watkins Award, and I regret not being there to congratulate him on this occasion.” Steve Schlickman, former UTC Executive Director and CUPPA adjunct faculty member, and UIC Provost Karen Colley officially bestowed the award during the luncheon.
