About
Kaitlin Clifton Forcier researches and teaches on the history and theory of screen media, working at the intersection of visual culture and media history. Her first book project, “The Infinite Aesthetic” analyzes iteration and endlessness in digital media, from the 1960s to today. Examining several key historical milestones in the emergence of digital moving images - such as the animated screensaver, the infinite scroll, and streaming platforms - she argues that endlessness is a characteristic unique to live networked screens and is deeply imbricated with new modes of power and control under digital capitalism.
Her research and teaching areas include: Digital and Emerging Media, Media Theory, Film History, Film Theory, Moving Image Art, History of Computation, Environmental Humanities, and Television Studies
