Rather than offer genre recipes, “The Unfamiliar Genre Project” (from Fleischer and Andrew-Vaughan’s Writing Outside Your Comfort Zone) invites writers to experience a genre’s nuances and variations from the inside and, in the process, inspires genre-appropriate originality of style and voice.
In this session, Kate Sjostrom will show how she has adapted it for use in both English 160 and the writing pedagogy course for pre-service teachers (ENGL 486).
