Critical Practices

November 3, 2021

1:00 PM - 2:30 PM

Location

2028 UH

Address

Chicago, IL 60612

The Grad Office is delighted to invite students and faculty to a Critical Practices workshop featuring English PhD candidate Ann-Marie McManaman and her dissertation on mad studies and literature, The Novel has gone Is (going) Mad, in conversation with Sara Ahmed’s The Cultural Politics of Emotion, and La Marr Jurelle Bruce’s How to go Mad without Losing your Mind.

Critical Practices showcases dissertation development by pre-circulating student chapter drafts alongside excerpts of theoretical/critical text with which the dissertations somehow engage (as inspiration, as antagonist, as flavor), Come discuss these fascinating theories as well as the research process!
