Distinguished Professor of Liberal Arts & Sciences and English Luis Alberto Urrea's write up noted the incredible confluence of events surrounding his new book, The House of Broken Angels, which was published in the midst of renewed debate and furor over borders, walls, and immigration that Urrea could not have foreseen when he started writing.

Daniel Borzutsky, who will join the UIC English faculty as an Assistant Professor in Fall 2018, is praised not only for his new poetry collection, Lake Michigan, but also for his 2016 National Book Award-winning collection The Performance of Becoming Human.

Senior Lecturer Gina Frangello was praised for her wide range of recent work, including her newest book, Every Kind of Wanting, and two essays dealing with the ramifications of a cancer diagnosis: "On Being the Object of Public Pity" and "Better Sex After Breast Cancer."

Congratulations to all three of our talented faculty members!
